A former insider at the Social Security Administration has gone on the record to describe a "hostile takeover" by Elon Musk and his minions at the Department of Government Efficiency.
As reported by the Washington Post, former SSA acting chief of staff Tiffany Flick is claiming as part of a lawsuit that Musk and his henchmen barged into the SSA and put highly sensitive taxpayer information at risk without once providing an explanation for why they needed it.
"Flick describes a fast and tension-filled takeover of the agency and its sensitive data systems by DOGE in what amounted to a de facto coup by agency outsiders," writes the Post. "The declaration is the first in-depth public account from a high-ranking government executive of how Musk’s team is operating at one of dozens of agencies as it leads a downsizing of the federal government under President Donald Trump."

In addition to her concerns about exposing Americans' personal information, Flick also said that she feared that Musk and DOGE could essentially cripple the SSA's core functionality of paying out benefits to American citizens.
"I witnessed a disregard for critical processes... That combined with the significant loss of expertise as more and more agency personnel leave, have me seriously concerned that SSA programs will continue to function and operate without disruption," she said. "That could result in benefits not being paid out or delays in payments... The stakes are high."
Musk has made multiple false claims about Social Security in recent weeks, including claims that it is making payouts to dead people and that it is a "Ponzi scheme."
