Republican House speaker nominee Tom Emmer (R-MN) has officially ended his bid for the gavel, just hours after Donald Trump called on his supporters in Congress to vote against him.
After five rounds of voting in the GOP conference, Emmer was named speaker designee earlier Tuesday. Emmer defeated Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA). Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) dropped out before the final round.
The former president then lashed out against Emmer.

Now, according to reports, Emmer has already dropped his speaker efforts.
From the Guardian: "It looks like Tom Emmer is out of the speakership scramble… Emmer has dropped out of the race, per multiple reports, including the Washington Post, CNN and NBC. The Minnesota congressman is the third Republican speaker nominee since Kevin McCarthy was ousted."
