Workers at the Federal Aviation Administration sounded the alarm this week after President Donald Trump and Elon Musk oversaw the firing of around 400 employees.

The Associated Press reported that the FAA began notifying employees last Friday that they were being fired. One air traffic controller said the move included FAA radar, landing, and navigational aid maintenance staff.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy insisted, "Zero air traffic controllers and critical safety personnel were let go."

However, one FAA employee suggested to Rolling Stone that Duffy was wrong.

"There are currently four people remaining over there to do the work of 15 people," the employee said about an "obstacle impact team" that is based in Oklahoma and did work critical to preparing for emergencies.

"The danger to the national airspace can't be understated. This is a very real threat to the American flying public."

Musk has also said that the firings had no impact on safety.

"Well, he's wrong," the employee insisted.

"How do they think airports and airplanes work?" another FAA official reportedly said.

A Transportation Department worker told Rolling Stone that Trump could be remembered as "President Plane Accident."

"I don't think we expected it to happen to us, especially with all the aviation crashes and things going on, all the safety issues that are already out there, and then being already understaffed," a fired employee noted. "Firing people that do this sort of work is not conducive to preventing accidents."
