The Associated Press reported Sunday that Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler has been suspended after an emergency meeting of top GOP leaders over the weekend.

Ziegler was accused of sexual battery at the end of November, but the state Republican leaders remained largely quiet until last week when news spread about the allegations.

The woman alleges that Ziegler and his wife Bridget, a co-founder of Moms for Liberty, had a prior ménage à trois and long-term polyamorous relationship. When the wife was not present, Ziegler allegedly committed the sexual battery.

“Christian Ziegler has engaged in conduct that renders him unfit for the office,” the party’s motion to censure Ziegler said, according to a document posted on social media by Lee County GOP Chairman Michael Thomason.

The AP said that Ziegler attempted to defend himself during the meeting, but his claims fell flat.

A jury in New York found that Donald Trump "sexually abused" E. Jean Carroll and then defamed her after the fact. It is the only accuser of Trump's who had a jury rule that they believed her claims of sexual abuse. He remains the leading Republican candidate in GOP primary for president.
