Republican pollster Frank Luntz on Wednesday marveled at just how much the 2024 presidential race has changed within the last month.
During an appearance on CNBC, Luntz said that he believed Vice President Kamala Harris would win the election if it were held today, and he said that could have big impacts on down-ballot races as well.
"She's bringing out people who are not interested in voting either for [former President Donald] Trump or [President Joe] Biden," Luntz explained. "So the entire electoral pool has changed. And if it continues in this direction, you have to start to consider Democrats winning the Senate and Democrats winning the House."
Luntz then outlined just why Harris has surged after Biden decided to drop out of the race last month.
"She's got intensity now, she's got an intensity advantage," said Luntz. "She's got a demographic advantage. And I haven't seen anything like this happen in 30 days in my lifetime."

Luntz was then asked about the possibility that pollsters were once again missing the number of voters who were going to back Trump, and he replied that his feelings on the race weren't based just on publicly available polling data.
Rather, he's found a shift toward Harris in focus groups he's conducted.
"The people who were undecided, they've all collapsed towards Harris," he said. "The people who were weak Trump [voters] have all collapsed towards undecided. It's this broad shift."
Luntz also said that Trump has helped Harris by making baffling moves, such as joking with X CEO Elon Musk about firing workers who were trying to form a union.
Luntz likened actions such as this to "political suicide."
