Anti-Trump attorney George Conway this week proposed a new way for Democrats to defeat former President Donald Trump in 2024: To literally drive him crazy.
As The New Republic reports, Conway is pitching a plan to wage "psychological warfare" against Trump in the event that he once again secures the Republican Party nomination for the presidency.
In essence, writes Conway, Democrats need to find the local TV markets where Trump is residing and pummel him with ads aimed at humiliating him and driving him over the edge.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
"He knows he’s not that smart, he knows he’s not that rich, he knows that he’s not that good," he said. "And so, if you go and attack him for the things he knows he is not deep down, it makes him crazy."
Conway added that Trump is "not that far from his bursting point" and that will make it more likely that he will sabotage himself in his multiple legal battles.
"The more he gets attacked the more he will talk about things he shouldn’t be talking about,” Conway said. “I think you could even get him thrown into jail, by running the right ad."
Conway added that the strategy should be aimed at creating mistrust between Trump and his codefendants, such as former chief of staff Mark Meadows, thus causing Trump to lash out at them publicly.
"You run these creepy ads that get into his head, he’ll just go out there and he’ll violate his conditions of release," Conway speculated.
