George Santos takes defeat lap after GOP loses his old seat
(C-SPAN).

Disgraced former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) gloated on Tuesday after Republicans lost his old congressional seat.

Minutes after it was officially declared that Santos' seat was lost to Democrat Thomas Suozzi, the ousted congressman posted a tweet blaming two New York State Republican congressmen, Anthony D'Esposito and Nick Lalota, who had been instrumental in pushing for his ouster.

"Hey Americans! Please thank these two gems for losing a seat in the house today!" Santos wrote in Twitter post featuring photos of the two New York Republicans.

Hours later, Santos posted another tweet mocking the GOP for blowing the special election.

"I won NY-03 with $0 super PAC money, $0 CLF money and $0 Establishment money," Santos crowed. "Tonight the establishment set $10 million on fire! I FLIPPED a 23 year Blue seat with the help of grassroots activists and by activating the base with retail politics…"

In fact, Santos won his race in large part by fabricating much of his life story, including his academic history, work history, and ethnic heritage.

The Democratic victory in Santos' old seat narrows the slim Republican majority in the House and gives Democrats a much-needed win in New York City’s Long Island suburbs, where the GOP showed surprising strength in recent elections.
