Disgraced former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) took to X on Tuesday morning to voice a posthumous attack on former Vice President Dick Cheney, who passed away at the age of 84 due to a lifelong heart condition.
"Dick Cheney will meet his maker and will have lots of explaining to do," said Santos. "I wish his family well all things considered, but I haven’t and won’t ever shed a tear for a war criminal of his ilk."
Cheney was best known as being the architect of the war on terror in the George W. Bush administration, which made him an infamous figure in left-leaning circles for decades.
However, in his later years, while still identifying as a conservative, Cheney spoke out against President Donald Trump's plot to steal the 2020 presidential election, alongside his daughter, and cast a vote for former Vice president Kamala Harris in 2024.
Santos had an explosive tenure in Congress marked with scandal, including accusations he had fabricated almost every aspect of his life story on the campaign trail, and a guilty plea in a criminal investigation for wire fraud and identity theft.
However, Trump controversially issued a commutation of Santos' sentence, while appearing to be confused over what he was actually convicted for in the first place.
