Expelled congressman George Santos asked his fans and followers if he should leave the Republican party, and most of them said yes.
Santos, who is also facing criminal charges from the DOJ, posted a poll on social media on Friday, simply asking, "Should I leave the Republican Party?" At the time of writing, the poll has four hours remaining and it stands with 67.6% people voting for his departure from the party. The poll shows 32.4% saying he should stay.
The comments are a mixed bag, with some begging Santos to stay to fix a broken party and others condemning Santos as an alleged criminal.
"You have. They kicked you out," a verified user named Sandy wrote.

Another user, on the other hand, wrote, "Please stay and run for office again we need reps like you with liberty score in the 90%."
A verified "Gays for Trump" account had a different take:
"If you're going to become an Independent then sure. You can't possibly switch to the Democrats," it wrote.
Indeed, Santos clarified in a follow-up post that his intent is to potentially become independent.
"Clarification… if I were to leave the GOP it’s to become an independent not a Democrat! LOL," the ex-lawmaker wrote.
As the poll got closer to its close, with Santos leaving the party in a commanding lead, he made another follow-up post seeming to confirm his decision. In the post, he tagged conservative activist Scott Presler.
"Hey [Presler] looks like I need a registration form my friend!" Santos wrote Saturday.
Santos later confirmed to Raw Story that he plans on becoming independent.
"Yup, right after the June primary in NY," Santos told Raw Story Saturday.
