Disgraced former U.S. Representative George Santos is in talks with prosecutors aimed at resolving criminal charges before his trial begins, Reuters reported.

Lawmakers voted to expel Santos from the House earlier this month after he was accused of mishandling campaign funds, among other accusations of fraud.

He has pleaded not guilty to a 13-count indictment which included defrauding prospective political supporters by laundering funds to pay for his personal expenses, illegally receiving unemployment benefits while he was employed and lying to the House about his assets.

He also pleaded not guilty in October to charging donors' credit cards without their consent and reporting a fraudulent $500,000 campaign loan.
