Former congressman George Santos said Saturday that TV entertainer Jimmy Kimmel must "face the consequences" for purportedly misusing his copyrights.

Santos sued Kimmel "for tricking him into making videos to ridicule him," according to a report from ABC.

"Former U.S. Rep. George Santos alleged in a lawsuit filed Saturday that late-night host Jimmy Kimmel deceived him into making videos on the Cameo app that were used to ridicule the disgraced New York Republican on the show," the report states. "The lawsuit filed in U.S. district court for the southern district of New York names Kimmel, ABC and Walt Disney Co. as defendants."

The report says that "Santos, who was expelled from the House of Representatives last year after being charged with multiple counts of fraud and stealing from donors, is suing over alleged copyright infringement, fraudulent inducement, breach of contract and unjust enrichment."

"Kimmel misrepresented himself to induce Santos to create personalized videos 'capitalizing on and ridiculing' his 'gregarious personality,' the lawsuit alleges," the outlet reports.

Santos himself spoke out on the issue Saturday evening, saying the lawsuit means he is standing up for himself.

"If you don’t stand up for yourself you will always lose! That’s what I’m doing with this lawsuit," he said on social media. "I’m standing my ground and fighting to uphold my legal rights."

He continued:

"Jimmy boy thought he could use fraudulent means to violate my copyrights and now he’s going to face the consequences. It’s really that simple."

Santos goes even further by suggesting that his lawsuit is correct on the merits, and that the litigation is merely a formality.

"My legal case is unassailable, there’s no question I am in the right," the former representative wrote on X.
