84-year-old man critically hurt in Good Friday crucifixion reenactment: report

An 84-year-old man was critically injured in West Virginia after he fell from a cross during a crucifixion reenactment on Good Friday.

According to local reports, the accident happened around 12:30pm at the Masonic Cemetery in Weston.

The man was with the Vandalia Community Christian Church when he fell 10 feet. He was later air-lifted to an emergency facility. He was not a member of that specific church but was assisting at the event, according to WDTV.

A family member of the victim told the outlet the man was admitted to the ICU with broken ribs.

There is no word on what caused the man to fall from the cross.

According to West Virginia Reports, people were dressed as Roman centurions and the Virgin Mother Mary at the event. This was the church’s 20th iteration of the reenactment
