A GOP congressional candidate is apologizing after he posted an image to social media showing Democratic lawmakers hanging in nooses, The Messenger reported.
Former West Virginia state lawmaker Derrick Evans shared and then quickly deleted the image that showed versions of politicians like President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Barack Obama, and Rep. Nancy Pelosi hanging from nooses as a Donald Trump figurine looks on in approval.

"Not my tree. Not my ornaments. Not in good taste," Evans wrote in a post after deleting the image. "NOT a call for violence. I shouldn't have used a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus for anything political (good taste or poor taste). Let's go celebrate this time with our families in love and peace."
From The Messenger: "Evans is a vocal support of Trump and the former president's unfounded theories about the 2020 presidential election being fraudulent. The Republican even spent time behind bars for participating in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot over a civil disorder charge. Evans said he was only in the Capitol for around 10 minutes."
