Donald Trump erupted in a late-night Truth Social tirade at a key NATO ally, blasting the United Kingdom for what he called an act of “GREAT STUPIDITY” while escalating his pressure campaign over Greenland. After slapping 10% tariffs on Denmark, the UK, and Germany for resisting his push to seize the Arctic territory, Trump accused the UK of undermining global security by relinquishing control of Diego Garcia, home to a major U.S. military base. The president framed the move as proof of allied “weakness” emboldening Russia and China, while bizarrely using the episode to argue that Denmark must surrender Greenland. Trump compounded the spectacle by posting private text exchanges with French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, underscoring the increasingly personal, erratic tone of his confrontation with longtime allies.
