CNN’s Jake Tapper lauded Kamala Harris’ debate performance Tuesday night — and described her as successfully goading Trump into reactions throughout the night.
“Vice President Harris’ supporters have got to be pleased with her performance this evening,” the host said minutes after the ABC News broadcast ended.
He added, ”Over and over, baiting Donald Trump into talking about crowd sizes and court cases and Nancy Pelosi and Russiagate and grievances. And he took the bait almost every time!”
Tapper also remarked on the way Trump reacted to the vice president’s pokes.
“He cited Fox hosts as fact-checkers. He invoked Hungarian strongman Viktor Orban as a character witness. it was like a 4chan post come to life.
“He really took her bait, almost every time.”

Trump and Harris went head to head for more than 90 minutes, covering issues as wide-ranging as abortion, the war in Ukraine and health care.
But it was Trump’s response to immigration issues that caught Tapper’s attention.
“He invoked what authorities in Springfield, Ohio are saying is just false, a debunked meme that Haitian migrants are stealing and eating pets,” the host said.
“He said that on the debate stage tonight.”
