Donald Trump just handed Democrats a "powerful weapon" to use against Republicans in the midterms, according to one analyst.

Jonathan Martin, the politics bureau chief and senior political columnist at POLITICO, said that most of Trump's so-called "big, beautiful" bill is just an "extension of Trump's previous tax cuts."

However, according to Martin, there, is "one exception," and it could be extremely damaging for the GOP officials.

"The Medicaid cuts. I think the Medicaid cuts are a huge political gamble for Donald Trump. Because what made Donald Trump different from Paul Ryan and George W. Bush in the sort of BC Republican party, right? It was he wasn't going to touch entitlements. That's always what made Trump different," Martin said. "And I think him breaking faith... he figured that out about the base. Him breaking faith on that, I think, hands Democrats a powerful weapon for the midterms, because they can point to that. X number of people in your state, your district, are going to lose health care coverage. I think it's a powerful, powerful attack."
