Donald Trump's new executive order has a devastating impact on some veterans, a former "Tea Party" Republican lawmaker said early on Wednesday.

Former GOP Congressman Joe Walsh, who recently announced he was joining the Democratic party, weighed in on recent Trump events in a Substack post dated June 18.

After covering the biggest news of the day, Walsh highlighted something that isn't getting as much media coverage.

"I had to make sure this was real. "Medical staff are still required to treat veterans regardless of race, color, religion, and sex, but politics and marital status have been explicitly eliminated, meaning individual workers are now free to decline to care for patients based on these personal characteristics."

Walsh further added, "Physicians can also be denied employment at VA hospitals based on these factors. What year is this?"

Walsh also asked, "How is this real life?"
