Ivanka Trump cautioned consumers that her name was being used to circulate a "fake" crypto token.

The warning came after both President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump promoted meme crypto tokens using their names. The family was said to have earned millions of dollars in fees with the scheme.

"It has come to my attention that a fake crypto coin called 'Ivanka Trump' or '$IVANKA' is being promoted without my consent or approval," Ivanka Trump said in a statement on Thursday. "To be clear: I have no involvement with this coin. This fake coin risks deceiving consumers and defrauding them of their hard-earned money, and the unauthorized use of my name and likeness is a violation of my rights."

"This promotion is deceptive, exploitative, and unacceptable. My legal team is reviewing and will be pursuing measures to stop the continued misuse of my name," she added.

The "fake" token was circulating soon after President Trump took office.

"If you aren't aping in $IVANKA right now there is something wrong with your brain," one crypto advocate wrote on X the day after the inauguration.
