Ivanka Trump on Wednesday publicly wished her father happy birthday in a cryptic Instagram post.
The former first daughter who has kept her distance from the embattled former president in recent months posted photos from her childhood.
“Happy Birthday, Dad,” Ivanka Trump wrote. “You are the most incredible father. Your love, energy and strength inspire me every day. Wishing you a year filled with the happiness you deserve.”
A Vanity Fair report took note of the post.
The outlet’s Bess Levin writes that, “Given that there’s a nonzero chance her father will be sentenced to time in prison during this or the next year around the sun, writing that she hopes he gets the happiness he deserves sounds less like a birthday wish and more like a warning from the Mafia. But hey, maybe she meant it sincerely! It’s not as though the former first daughter won’t even be seen in public with the guy.”
Ivanka Trump last year made waves in MAGA-land when she announced her decision not to campaign for her father in 2024.
“I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics,” she said in a statement to Fox News.
"While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments," she said.
