J.D. Vance's attacks on childless Democrats are coming back to haunt Republican party leaders as lawmakers like Sens. Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott are being called to resign.
“I’m pretty sure Lindsey Graham is one of those childless cat lady’s the other side is talking about,” teased X user @CoffeyTimeNews.
Vance has fielded plenty of backlash for the now-ubiquitous quote, initially made in a 2022 interview with Fox News Host Tucker Carlson, where he derided childless Democrats such as Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Pete Buttigieg for having no stake in the future of the nation.
On Wednesday, Arizona Republican congressional candidate Blake Masters doubled down on the remark, agreeing with Vance that “Political leaders should have children.”

“Certainly they should at least be married,” Masters wrote on X. “If you aren’t running or can’t run a household of your own, how can you relate to a constituency of families, or govern wisely with respect to future generations? Skin in the game matters.”
Many were quick to point out that prominent members of the Republican party have also never married or had children.
“All these Republicans arguing that unmarried and childless people shouldn't hold elected office have already called on Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott to step down, right?” columnist Dan Savage asked on X.
“Susan Collins has no children. Lindsey Graham has no children. Tim Scott has no children. Martha McSally had no kids,” listed @danpolovina. “Seems like this really isn't an issue until its a Democrat.”
“Does Lindsey Graham just sit back and take this attack on his bachelor lifestyle?” @ZachWritesStuff replied sarcastically.
“I guess Lindsey Graham will have to find a job at his local Piggly Wiggly,” snarked @RealityRobbed.
