Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) this week had some sharp words for Republicans who are bitter that no Democrats helped them to bail out Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from being deposed this week.

In an interview with the Washington Post's Greg Sargent, Raskin scoffed at the idea that Democrats had some moral obligation to help McCarthy survive a rebellion by his own members who have spent months in a frenzied effort to sabotage any effort at governing.

"House Republicans have done nothing but feed Trump derangement and MAGA extremism three meals a day,” Raskin said. “When the monster turns around to attack them, why do we suddenly have to become their babysitter?”

Raskin also drew a line between the chaos engulfing House Republicans and former President Donald Trump and he hinted that such chaos would engulf all of Washington should Trump return to the White House.

"The MAGA dysfunction caucus within the GOP just mirrors Donald Trump’s political style and program," he said.

The ouster of McCarthy this week has set off a wave of recriminations and vows of retributions within the Republican caucus, with many members pushing to strip rebellious Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) of his committee assignments or even expelling him entirely from the caucus.
