Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) took to social media to fact-check a fake quote he said is going around that is being falsely attributed to him.
The fake quote was posted by Larry D. Jones Jr.'s account on X, which has over 156,000 followers.
“Let folks cast their votes for Trump if that’s their choice. But mark my words, we won’t be certifying the election. He might win, but we’ll ensure he doesn’t step foot in the Oval Office," Jones claimed Raskin said.

Several Trump supporters responded to the post demanding that Raskin be arrested for treason or sedition.
Jones then posted a video of Raskin from a February panel discussion at the bookstore Politics and Prose.
"So, it's going to be up to us on Jan. 6, 2025, to tell the rampaging Trump mobs that he's disqualified and that we need bodyguards for everybody," the short excerpt says.
The full quote from Raskin concerns the Supreme Court and what he calls their decision about whether to disqualify Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment. The moment comes about 39 minutes into an hour-long panel on voting rights.
During the discussion, Raskin expressed fear that the Supreme Court would say that it is "up to Congress on Jan. 6, 2025, to disqualify [Trump] at the counting of the Electoral College," which would have put them in a highly awkward position of voting on whether to disqualify Trump even if he were legitimately elected.
The case the panel was discussing came from Colorado, whose secretary of state argued that Trump was disqualified as a potential candidate due to his incitement of a deadly riot at the United States Capitol that many constitutional scholars have said qualifies as insurrection against the federal government.
Raskin's hypothetical in this instance amounted to nothing, however, because the Supreme Court ultimately overruled the state.
Regardless, the quote attributed to Raskin saying that he would not certify the election if Trump won is completely false.
"This fictional 'quote' is 100% fabricated," Raskin said, reposting the Jones tweet. "It's one more lie in the stream of right-wing lies designed to undermine our election. Despite this actionable libel and all the disinformation, America is having a free and fair election and Congress will certify the winner."
