As Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) stumped at a rally in Michigan on behalf of former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign, he was sharply roasted by Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign for a blunder in which he appeared to confuse which Biden administration cabinet member has which job.

In response to a supporter in the crowd proclaiming, "Fire Granholm!" while he was discussing the cost of groceries, Vance replied, "That’s right, we’re going to fire the Agriculture Secretary because she’s not doing a very good job."

But the @kamalahq account was ready with a swift fact check, which they posted to both X and Threads.

"Jennifer Granholm is the Secretary of Energy. The Secretary of Agriculture is Tom Vilsack," wrote the account.

Vance may have had the Department of Agriculture on his mind because he was discussing food prices. However, the Trump supporter was likely referring to the Department of Energy because Trump has repeatedly blamed consumer inflation on insufficient oil drilling — even though the most recent reports indicate the United States is producing more oil than it has at any point in history.

Vance has been on the defensive much of the time since being named Trump's running mate over his past remarks about women and found himself in an unflattering situation at the Michigan rally amid an extremely small crowd and an inability to find any reporters from Michigan to ask questions.
