Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) isn't happy with Donald Trump choosing Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) to join the presidential ticket.

While Vance brings "youth" to the table, the former governor wasn't supportive of his "lacking in executive experience." In fact, Vance's only political experience is less than two years as a senator.

"But the question is, the Nikki Haley supporters, the independent voters out there, how are they going to react to it?" he asked. "And right now he really doesn't have the national profile as many others."

Hutchinson went on to wonder how Vance would campaign and define himself in the new role. "And following the mantra of Donald Trump, how's he gonna shape up in the fall campaign. Are they going to reach out? Are they going to narrow it on the base? That's the test to be seen."

Meanwhile, he said that someone like Vance on the ticket "doesn't give a lot of confidence to those on the sidelines" worried about foreign policy, particularly as it pertains to ensuring Ukraine's defense against Russia is fully funded and "America's global leadership. And we don't have that in J.D. Vance."

Vance's instinct in the wake of the shooting at the Trump rally was to blame Democrats and President Joe Biden for the attack. The latest update is that the shooter was a registered Republican whom neighbors claimed had Trump signs outside of his home, although there has still been no definitive motive for his actions.
