Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) got fact-checked by a Fox host on Sunday after he tried to claim that President Joe Biden was following the pro-terrorism branch of his party.
"He has to be careful he doesn't get weak in Israel because he's trying to appeal, as well, to the Palestinians more than, especially, the people in Hamas as well as others within his party," Van Drew began.
Anchor Arthel Neville cut in: "Let me ask you, wait, one second, one second congressman. Now, I can understand that you're saying that the president is trying to perhaps appeal to the Palestinian people, but you're saying that he's appealing to the terrorists? The Hamas terrorists? No, no. Let me clarify that he's appealing to the Palestinian people and some who support Hamas within his own party if he's not careful."
No Democrats have expressed sympathy with terrorists. Republicans proposed a bill that condemned Hamas and funded Israel. The Republicans spent a week trying to attach several amendments to the bill, including abortion-related measures. Finally, the bill that passed defunded the Internal Revenue Service, which Republicans complained is going after billionaire "job creators" because they're not paying their taxes.
There are approximately 1.4 million "wealthy 'tax cheats' who haven't filed federal tax returns," which Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-OR) wants to see the IRS focus on.
The bill also removed Ukraine funding. Both issues are non-starters for Democrats in the Senate and the president. Democrats want a clean bill for Israel and Ukraine with no amendments hanging on.
