‘Should we give him a slow clap?’ Dem laughs at Trump attack as it's read live on MSNBC

Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) tore into President Donald Trump Saturday, reacting live to a social media post from the president that she labeled “typical conman BS.”

Trump, embroiled in controversy around his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, officially asked the Justice Department this week to release grand jury testimony related to Epstein, who died in 2019 awaiting trial on human trafficking charges.

In an apparent effort to ward off future pressure, Trump wrote in his social media post that “nothing will be good enough for the troublemakers,” even if a federal court ultimately approves the release of grand jury transcripts.

“Well, should we give him a slow clap?” Stansbury said, reacting to Trump’s social media post being read live on MSNBC. “Let's start with that. Donald Trump is always trying to fool you, he's trying to take from you with this hand while he gives you a little crumb with this hand, and that's typical conman BS.”

Trump announced his calls for grand jury testimony to be released following a bombshell report from the Wall Street Journal, a report that revealed a bawdy letter written by Trump to Epstein for his 50th birthday in 2003 that included a drawing of a naked women, and the message “may every day be another wonderful secret.”

While Trump’s push for grand jury transcripts might be a step further than what his Justice Department stated last week, that no further information related to Epstein would be released, it will be unlikely to satisfy his core supporters, many of whom are deeply invested in theories around Epstein, many of which of Trump and his cabinet picks’ own making, Stansbury said.

“I'm sure the DOJ and (Attorney General) Pam Bondi have gone through all the things they can release that don't implicate Donald Trump,” she continued.

“But let's be clear, this is not the DOJ's Epstein files, and that is what MAGA wanted because we know that there is stuff inside of there because Bondi wouldn't have been at a private lunch telling people there's thousands of hours of video tape of Epstein doing bad things with kids, and then say it doesn't exist.”
