President Donald Trump issued symbolic pardons of various MAGA officials involved in his 2020 plot to overturn the presidential election — but one of the conspirators who largely fell out of Trump's inner circle is still none too quick to praise him.
In fact, disgraced far-right attorney Jenna Ellis celebrated her receipt of a pardon by attacking Trump's taste in decor for renovating the White House, reported The Daily Beast on Monday.
"In a social media post, Ellis hit out at the president’s latest gilded decor spree: a new golden sign and gold ornaments to mark his newly created 'Presidential Walk of Fame'. 'I personally hate this,' she declared, alongside photos of the latest changes," reported Farrah Tomazin.
Ellis, who went from a small-time attorney in Colorado to one of Trump's inner circle, was one of a number of lawyers who worked behind the scenes to try to legitimize Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election. As with the other figures Trump pardoned, it affected nothing legally because she was never charged with federal crimes and the only charges against her were at the state level in Georgia and Arizona.
She took a guilty plea in Georgia for aiding and abetting false statements about voter fraud. In Arizona, she testified against Trump ally Rudy Giuliani, as part of a deal that helped her avoid nine fraud and conspiracy charges there.
Since her legal troubles, Ellis has become colder toward Trump, proclaiming him to be a "narcissist" and backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over him for the 2024 election.
