MAGA diehards are sharpening their pitchforks to recoup funds they donated to fight for former Donald Trump attorney Jenna Ellis, now that she’s copped a guilty plea in the Georgia criminal election subversion case.
Many among the chorus of social media posts demanding refunds from the crowdfunding site GiveSendGo felt betrayed by the lawyer, as first reported by Newsweek.
“Hey @GiveSendGo, are you going to make criminal Jenna Ellis return all of the money she grifted from people while claiming her innocence,” Tara Dublin posted.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
Breanna Morello called out Ellis on Twitter/X for having solicited monies on the platform “by promising the American people she would fight for the truth.”
Now that Ellis is no longer in the fight for her innocence and pleaded guilty, Morello suggests she owes it to her supporters to return the dough.
“She’s now folded in just a few weeks after taking in those donations,” Morello added. “Will she refund her donors? Likely not. A grifter has to grift.”
Welling with tears, Ellis stood up and addressed an open court on Tuesday expressing contrition for carrying the former president’s water in the fallout of his defeat in the 2020 election.
“If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-challenges," Ellis said. "I look back on this experience with deep remorse."
With her flip for the Fulton County Prosecutor's office, Ellis will now be expected to testify truthfully against her fellow co-defendants including Trump himself.
As of this publication, Ellis’ crowdfunding effort had neared a nose under $217,000.
In a twist, more donations appeared to be coming in – from unsuspecting supporters that appear to be of the less Right persuasion.
A self-described liberal from Wyoming named Tim Rieser posted a note explaining why he was gifting her a $25 donation because “I genuinely feel empathy for you and the situation you are in.”
“I deeply hate the evil being done to you,” wrote Richard Gravette after offering $25.
