'No jacket. No gavel. No service': Jim Jordan mercilessly mocked for losing speaker votes

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) is being ridiculed for winning fewer votes on his second vote for U.S. Speaker than he had during the first round.

According to Washington Post columnist Aaron Blake, the vote was historic as it was the first time in more than 100 years that "the majority party’s nominee dropped below 200... Back then, the House had just 365 members voting."

Republican Rep. Mike Collins (GA) announced on his social media that the Democratic Party's choice, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, lost his 17th straight vote for speaker. But Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) suggested Collins sit out the criticism on this one, given the embarrassment. "Hakeem Jeffries got more votes for Speaker on this ballot than any Republican, the 13th time he has," he said.

The "GOP sh-t-show rambles on wreaking havoc wherever it goes," said actor Billy Baldwin.

"There's an old saying: 'When the horse is dead, dismount,'" began former youth pastor John Pavlovitz on the social media site formerly known as Twitter. "The idea of Jim Jordan and any other extremist MAGA Republican as speaker needs to be put down. For America's safety and progress, Hakeem Jeffries will lead with wisdom and decency."

"No jacket. No gavel. No service," tweeted MSNBC's Katie Phang alongside a picture of Jordan in shirt sleeves.

The WTFGOP X account said that Republican CSPAN callers were heard demanding that Democrats come in and save them by voting for Jim Jordan. It has been an ongoing faux pas from Republicans and their allies admitting that Republicans can't govern without Democrats.

"Hilarious. Jim Jordan isn’t winning speakership because many congress members think he’s an a--hole (both parties)," said an X user identified as Marshall Eisenhower MacArthur. "So what’s his strategy? To be an even bigger a--hole and try to strong arm Republican no votes. Amazing political work, sir."

Another video showed Katy Perry being slimed on Nickelodeon, but the name "Jim Jordan" appeared over her and the slime was the GOP.

The liberal site Meidas Touch showed a picture of Jordan accompanied by the Hamilton song Cabinet Battle #1, which has the refrain: "You don't have the votes!"
