Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) held a press conference on Friday morning in a bid to save his flailing bid for the speakership, and a CNN panel came away decidedly unimpressed by what they saw.
CNN host Poppy Harlow got the discussion started by questioning what was even the purpose of Jordan's press conference, which lasted under ten minutes.
"What was the goal there?" she asked. "Did he say anything different than he has been saying?"

Former GOP congressman Charlie Dent then chimed in to say that Jordan was trying to make himself more presentable as speaker, but he predicted this effort would fall completely flat.
"I think that many of these members who voted against Jim Jordan over the past few days are dug in," he said. "And I think they are immovable objects, many of them."
Dent cited Jordan's history of what former Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) described as "legislative terrorism" as a key reason why so many Republicans were unwilling to back him.
Fellow panelist Errol Louis largely shared Dent's assessment and said that Jordan's attempt at a makeover was "not terribly convincing" due to his total lack of legislative accomplishments over his two decades in Congress.
"I don't think we are going to see a shift in the vote today," he predicted.
