As Joe Biden continues to take a victory lap for his COVID 19 rescue plan, the chairman of the Senate subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure inadvertently revealed on Monday how Democrats will seek to pass the bill.
While the stimulus package had support from the majority of Republican voters, every single GOP member in Congress voted against the bill. To keep the minority from blocking the bill, Democrats employed the reconciliation process, which allows a bill to pass with only a simple majority.
Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) on Monday was caught on a hot mic saying that the same reconciliation process would be used to pass infrastructure funding.
Cardin said that "ultimately it's going to be put together similar to how the rescue plan was put together."
He said Democrats will "most likely have to use reconciliation."
