Disinfo is splintering Minnesota Republicans ahead of midterm elections: report

Republicans in Minnesota are divided on the issue of whether to confront the disinformation that motivates the MAGA base.

"As Minnesota Republican candidates try to win back statewide elected offices for the first time in more than a decade — and also control of the Minnesota Legislature — at least a half dozen are mixing false claims about mass election fraud and the COVID-19 pandemic with other talking points on public safety and the economy," Stephen Montemayor reported for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "Now under new leadership, the Minnesota GOP is at a crossroads as it approaches this spring's convention: Forcefully rein in discredited and conspiratorial claims, or stay quiet while levying allegations of the same practices against their political opponents?"

Trump's long history of siding with Putin against Ukraine memorialized in brutal CNN story

Donald Trump's history with Vladimir Putin was the focus of a new story by CNN's Marshall Cohen.

"The Russian invasion of Ukraine didn’t just happen out of nowhere," he noted. "Russian President Vladimir Putin has ratcheted up tensions with the West for the better part of the last decade – he annexed Crimea, meddled in US elections, poisoned an ex-spy on British soil, and more. Nearly every step of the way, former President Donald Trump parroted Kremlin talking points, excused Russian aggression and sometimes even embraced it outright."

Bolton, who has become a major critic of Trump after his ouster from the White House, claimed the former president's balking at sending weapons to Ukraine is a contributing factor to that state of play that is still ongoing due to the Russian president's unprovoked attack on a neighboring country.

Ginni Thomas pushed 'Stop the Steal' plans to Indiana Republican originally nominated to January 6 committee

On Friday, NBC News reported that, in addition to previous revelations that far-right activist Ginni Thomas was in close contact with White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows on overthrowing the 2020 presidential election, she was also in contact with the office of a top House Republican who had been nominated by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to investigate the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"Shortly after the 2020 election, Virginia 'Ginni' Thomas, the conservative activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, sent an email to an aide to a prominent House conservative saying she would have nothing to do with his group until his members go 'out in the streets,' a congressional source familiar with the exchange told NBC News," reported Scott Wong. "Thomas told an aide to incoming Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks, R-Ind., that she was more aligned with the far-right House Freedom Caucus, whose leaders just two months later would lead the fight in Congress to overturn the results of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory."

Jan. 6 rioters are attempting to cash in on their insurrectionist infamy

Ever since he was declared the loser of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump's political fundraising machinery has been operating non-stop. He's profited off of false claims of widespread fraud in the election and disavowed any responsibility for rabble-rousing his supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

Many of those who heeded his call to arms and tried to halt Congressional certification of President Joe Biden's Electoral College victory now are using their status as insurrectionist defendants to emulate their hero and try to make a buck. Case in point: Jenna Ryan.
