'The world's most expensive safe deposit boxes': Here's how Russian oligarchs are hiding their money in Manhattan

Some call them "the world's most expensive safe deposit boxes." They're the fabulously lavish, multi-million dollar condos in New York and other large U.S. cities that Russian oligarchs have been buying for the past decade. If they can have a "king of the world" view of Manhattan's Central Park, those ultra-rich Russians have thought nothing of shelling out $200 million per unit.

A report in Newsweek details how many of those transactions are designed to shield the oligarchs' assets by hiding the true ownership of the properties.

The GOP's 'Putin wing' is doing Russia's 'misinformation' dirty work for them: conservative

In a scorching column for the conservative Bulwark, Amanda Carpenter pointed out that there is nothing subtle about the latest stream of misinformation that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants broadcast to Americans as he invades Ukraine -- and that he has a willing cast of high-profile MAGA-Americans doing his dirty work for him.

When the Russian strongman wanted Donald Trump to be president in 2016, Kremlin deployed an army of trolls and bots to spread rumors and conspiracy theories on social media to manipulate low-information voters. With his Ukraine invasion struggling, and world opinion quickly turning against him, Carpenter suggested Putin has been able to cut out the middle-man with the help of characters like Tucker Carlson, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Donald Trump Jr. and Glenn Greenwald.

Hundreds of candidates just cut a check and filed paperwork to be on the ballot in Georgia this year.

Six of them are touting the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, whose fixation with Georgia has driven a wedge within the GOP and handed Democrats a rallying point and potential opening.

Trump has endorsed in five statewide races, following through on his vow to work to defeat Gov. Brian Kemp after the governor refused to go along with Trump’s plans to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. He has instead backed former U.S. Sen. David Perdue, whose first video ad featured Trump speaking directly into the camera about how Kemp “let us down.”

When Nixon meddled in an overseas war to win an election: Does this sound familiar?

Hubert Humphrey can fairly be described as the Joe Biden of his time, but with one key difference: The Republican candidate who sabotaged U.S. foreign policy and meddled in an overseas conflict in an effort to win his presidential election wound up, well, actually winning it.

I'm talking about Richard Nixon, who tried to scuttle peace negotiations in Vietnam in 1968, the year he was elected president. I probably don't need to tell you who ran against Joe Biden and lost in 2020, despite his meritless protests to the contrary —and despite his grotesque meddling in Ukraine.
