'More offensive than charming': Arizona columnist rips apart Kari Lake's latest strategy

Failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is hoping to revive her political career by running for the United States Senate.

To do this, Lake has begun a charm offensive aimed at winning back more moderate Republican voters whom she alienated during her previous campaign.

Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts, however, argues that Lake's efforts thus far have proven "more offensive than charming," and she predicts that the strategy will not end well for the former TV news anchor and current MAGA darling.

In fact, people who have been the subject of Lake's recent persuasion attempts have come away more convinced than ever that she doesn't understand why they refused to vote for her in the first place.

"Her refusal to apologize — or even recognize the impact of her slash-and-burn campaign for governor — has left them and other Republicans flabbergasted and questioning how she can win over more moderate Republicans and independents as she now campaigns for the U.S. Senate," writes Roberts.

Roberts went on to show just how deeply Lake alienated other Republicans in her state, as she went so far as to accuse one Republican critical of her proposals of wanting to see special needs children get raped by pedophiles.

Given all this, Roberts found herself floored that Lake has not only refused to apologize for her past rhetoric, but has even gone so far as to express bewilderment that anyone could find her divisive.

"That Kari Lake has never thought of herself as divisive is, well, wow," Roberts concluded. "Just ... wow."
