Busted: Kari Lake campaign reportedly caught in a lie about speaking fees

Senate candidate Kari Lake has reportedly been making coin off of her speeches, despite her campaign saying she does them out of the goodness of her heart.

The Arizona Republican who failed to win her gubernatorial run, reported taking in $75,000 in speaking fees last year, contradicting her campaign's prior claims that she doesn't get paid for the public speaking events, The Copper Courier reports.

“Kari Lake doesn’t charge a speaking fee,” the @KariLakeWarRoom posted on Twitter/X back in November 2023, responding directly to Nebraska State Sen. Julia Slama who posed the question on the same platform as to why her party would hire Lake to come and deliver a speech at their annual fundraiser.

“She’s donating her time to support your state party, and motivate Nebraskans for 2024,” the Lake-affiliated campaign account added.

Based on the television news anchor-turned political candidate's Jan. 30 financial disclosure, she had seven engagements with paid fees.

They include a Sept. 16 gathering of America Upheld California in Pasadena, California, where she earned $15,000 and an April 27 engagement where she made $5,000 for speaking at the Israel Heritage Foundation in the Big Apple.

Beyond the speaking earnings Lake reportedly is raking in, she also was paid $101,507 by Superfeed Technologies from April 2021 to March 2023 — the same company that was once led by former Arizona Republican Party chairman Jeff DeWit.

DeWit resigned as party chairman last week following the controversy brought on by an audio recording where he appeared to determine if Lake had a price she would accept in cash in order to bow out of the Senate race.

Lake has to defeat Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb in a primary before she can go on to compete in the general election.
