Kari Lake isn't in the 1 percent, but she's about to be in the 1 percent's magazine headquarters.
The Arizona Republic reported Tuesday that the magazine where she's expected to make her big announcement that she's running for Senate describes its readership as “the wealthiest demographic in the world,” reaching "only the one percent of the world’s population who control more than fifty percent of the world’s wealth."
Its focus is on “top travel destinations, celebrity and CEO profiles, yachting, aviation, watches and jewelry, fashion, finance, art, technology, golf, luxury automotive, and more.”
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
Near the Scottsdale Airport is Jet Set's headquarters, where Lake has hosted a previous event with South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R). The magazine also has a link to self-described billionaire Donald Trump, who fell from the Forbes 400 richest people list last week. Executive editor Robert Kiyosaki co-authored books with Trump talking about financial issues. He also wrote about Trump in the magazine during the 2016 campaign.
“As I watch the Republican debates, I ask myself, 'Of all the candidates on that stage, which one knows how to make money?'” Kiyasoki wrote at the time. “If we were a business, we’d be beyond bankrupt. We need someone to clean house. We need Donald J. Trump; we need an education president.”
Those claims preceded an ongoing New York court case which is hearing how Trump dramatically inflated his wealth. Trump has already been found liable for fraud in the case.
Kiyosaki is among Republican political donors who have given nearly $100,000 to GOP causes since 2016. He is also not on the Forbes 400 list.
