'Pretty out there': MSNBC's Chris Hayes plays brutal supercut of Trump pick's conspiracies

President-elect Donald Trump's selection of Kash Patel, a former House GOP staffer and longtime MAGA loyalist, to serve as FBI director, means the nation's top law enforcement agency will be in the hands of an avowed conspiracy theorist, warned MSNBC's Chris Hayes on Wednesday.

And he brought the sound clips to prove it.

To boot, he noted, Patel also pals around with Steve Bannon and helps him run his far-right show.

"The only good thing about being in the Swamp is you get to sit in the dojo that Steve Bannon built, and that is where I am operating right now, in my Trumpomania T-shirt, because that is what it is all about," said Patel in one clip.

"That is Kash Patel, the man Trump's nominated to run the FBI," said Hayes. "He has never worked for the FBI, but he does host Steve Bannon's 'War Room' podcast a lot, where he loves to share conspiracy theories."

He then played a number of them.

"The Chinese, the CCP, helped fund portions of the Biden campaign," said Patel in one clip. "Get the sergeant-at-arms to go out and arrest [Attorney General] Merrick Garland," he said in another. "They want everything, in every way, to rig this system, just like the censorship regime," he said in yet another. "We're going back to Wuhan, we're going back to COVID origins, and we're going back to another form of a megavirus that can take out China's enemies," he said in a fourth.

And he's even fingered the agency that he's now been tapped to run, as he demonstrated in yet another clip: "They are in on it with the mainstream media, the Biden-Harris-Walz campaign, and of course, the FBI."

"Like so many guys in Trump world, Patel just can't stop talking which — you know, game recognize game," said Hayes. "These folks are mostly made of podcasts at this point, and from the little I have heard from, what he has been saying is pretty out there."
