FBI Director Kash Patel will testify Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, his first congressional hearing since the killing of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk, the investigation of which has been plagued with false statements and missteps under his leadership.

Patel was scheduled to testify at the hearing prior to Kirk’s killing last week, where he initially was expected to face probing from lawmakers over purges at his agency against those deemed insufficiently loyal to President Donald Trump, ousted FBI agents allege. But in the wake of his agency’s fumbling of its investigation into Kirk’s killer, the “knives are out” for Patel, who is now expected to face intense scrutiny over his many conflicting statements.

“The White House, [Attorney General Pam] Bondi, [Deputy Attorney General Todd] Blanche have no confidence in Kash,” an insider told Fox News Sunday, described by the outlet as a “source with knowledge of ongoing personnel discussions.” “Pam in particular cannot stand him. Blanche either.”

Patel will go on to testify Wednesday before the House Judiciary Committee, setting the stage for two consecutive explosive hearings where the FBI head will be confronted with difficult questions.
