Katie Miller's major voting admission on TV draws fact-check

As midterm results rolled in on Tuesday night, Katie Miller, the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, admitted she didn’t vote and blamed concerns about her own safety

But her explanation for sitting out an election in which Republicans suffered devastating losses raised more questions than it answered, according to the Daily Beast’s Will Neal.

“I did not vote in Virginia because in Virginia when you vote, you dox your own address, and so I prefer my own safety and security over giving that up,” Miller told CBS News on Tuesday night.

Her comments came as Democrats seized control of both the House and Senate, a political "earthquake" that threatens to hobble the Trump administration for the rest of the president’s second term.

According to Neal, her excuse was especially "baffling" because the Millers no longer live in Virginia. In fact, they have lived in secure military housing in Washington, D.C., since September of last year, after saying they had received “terrorist threats” at their previous Virginia home, which was subsequently debunked by local police.

The Daily Beast asked the White House whether Stephen Miller shared his wife’s concerns and also skipped voting.

After her CBS appearance, Katie Miller struck a far more defiant tone on X: “Our team is more united than ever before, we are more prepared than ever before, and we believe in the cause more than ever before.”

Just a day earlier, she had posted that “Election Day always makes me want to have more kids to cancel out the votes of the America-hating leftists,” then went on to skip voting herself, Neal noted.
