'We continue to perpetuate a lie': Freedom Caucus member shreds GOP for election falsehoods

Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), a member of the hardline House Freedom Caucus, shredded his party on Sunday for continuing to push lies about the 2020 presidential election.

While speaking with ABC News, Buck was asked about the fact that top candidates in the race to be the new speaker of the House of Representatives voted against certifying the 2020 election.

"I think the factor... is that we continue to perpetuate a lie about the 2020 election being stolen," he said. "And we talk about the January 6th events as an unguided tour of the Capitol, that we are pretending that the people who assaulted police officers and destroyed federal government property are political prisoners. That hurts our ability and credibility."

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

Buck went on to say that many American voters would not give Republican policy ideas a chance if Republicans continued to spread election falsehoods.

Although Buck has been one of the most reliably conservative Republicans in Congress, he has criticized both falsehoods spouted by former President Donald Trump and has also criticized his party's impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
