House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday faced criticism after he attended a service to honor Brian Sicknick, a United States Capitol Police officer who was killed following the insurrection of January 6.
McCarthy, who helped spread the lie that the election was "rigged" against former President Donald Trump, angered viewers of the memorial event after he was seen walking past Sicknick's remains.
"Why was @GOPLeader at the memorial for #OfcSicknick?" one Twitter user asked. "His #Rhetoric ultimate caused this hero's murder?"
"The fact that Kevin McCarthy and other seditionists are sitting there listening to all of this, without a shred of conscience or self reflection," another commenter lamented.
