The keys to beating the "sick reality show" of Donald Trump's administration could be right before our eyes, according to an independent political strategist who worked on former President George W. Bush's campaign.

Political strategist Steve Schmidt, who recently warned of the "massive" impacts of Trump's so-called "big, beautiful" bill, published an article on Saturday called, "The keys to America's future," in which he highlights Democrats who could take on MAGA.

"There is no famous Democrat who is more popular than Trump who holds political power in the United States. None of the leaders of the Democratic Party who are known by the country are more popular than Donald Trump. None have a pathway to becoming more popular than Trump, though Trump has a pathway to becoming less popular than them. How is that possible?" he asked. "The Democratic Party needs leaders who can unite the country against MAGA, create energy, demand reform, and spark renewal."

According to Schmidt, "The leaders are there. They are simply unknown."

"The fundamental problem is the brand names won’t let go of their grip on power. A perfect example is Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts, who is running for re-election at the age of 79, with plans to serve until he is 86. For the record, John Adams was 40 in 1776," he wrote. "The fix requires new faces, fresh faces. Beating your head against the wall isn’t strategy."

He went on to flag "some of the faces of a new generation of Democratic leaders."

They are:

1. Jake Auchincloss
2. Mikie Sherrill
3. Abigail Spanberger
4. Joceyn Benson
5. Elissa Slotkin
6. Terry Virts

Schmidt encouraged readers to "check them out."

"They are the keys to get us out of the MAGA mess," he then added. "Who are others that we should be watching? It’s time for change in America."
