Rittenhouse lawyers put a right-wing commentator on the stand – the judge shut down an attempt to highlight his potential bias

This Thursday, Frank Andrew "Drew" Hernandez took the stand in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse and was questioned about the videos he took of unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Hernandez is employed by the right-wing media network Real America's Voice, which hosts a podcast by former Trump advisor Steve Bannon. At one point, prosecutor Thomas Binger tried to home in on Hernandez potential bias against the people who were rioting in Kenosha -- a line of questioning that the judge would not permit after the defense objected.

"This is not a political trial," Judge Bruce Schroeder said. "And I don't know how you would isolate a person's particular politics and determine that person is going to evaluate the evidence one way or another."

"Okay," Binger replied. "I'll move on."
