Arizona's Kyrsten Sinema announced her retirement from the Senate Tuesday in a carefully worded statement, praising Republican lawmakers she worked with while blasting the "dysfunction" of modern politics.

The former Democrat-turned-Independent switched her allegiances in 2022. She has since worked with both Democrats and Republicans in the Senate.

Many took to social media after her video announcement was posted on Tuesday, cheering the retirement and calling the senator various names. Some celebrated with GIFs such as Jerry Seinfeld saying, "That's a shame," several middle fingers and "Bye, Felicia."

"Great news for AZ. America and the Democrats," former Watergate prosecutor Jill Wine-Banks said.

"Big opportunity for Dems to pickup a Senate seat," quipped "Odd Lots" podcast co-host Joe Weisenthal.

Others, however, highlighted her cozy relationship with corporate America and lobbyists.

"Shameless Private Equity shill," complained Wagie Capital.

"Finally got offered that lobbying job, huh?" asked Tiffany.

"Cashing out to become a lobbyist or 'investment banker'?" asked Montana's Bob.

Indivisible director Leah Greenberg was elated as well. "Kyrsten Sinema will go down in history as a feckless, corrupt egomaniac who sabotaged abortion and voting rights and destroyed her own political career in the process. Enjoy your lobbying gig and leave the rest of us alone forever."

"The best decision you've made in years," said Chidi.

Voters Tomorrow's Santiago Mayer pointed out that, without Sinema and West Virginia Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin, it "means that if Dems can keep the Senate, they will have the votes to nuke the filibuster and pass the single most consequential legislative package since the New Deal. Abortion, guns, climate — all on the table."

Other anti-Sinema folks recalled some of her votes that angered them the most.

"Manchin & Sinema prevented Democrats from passing the John Lewis and Freedom to Vote Acts," noted Nick Knusen.

Bhavik Lathia pointed to the cutesy thumbs down from Sinema when "she helped kill the $15 federal minimum wage."

Philadelphia Inquirer columnist and reporter Will Bunch dismissed her statement. "People need to see that this is total BS. Sinema chose hedge funders and their wine soirees over the people."

Sarah in California cheered, "Excellent. Goodbye forever," with a GIF from "Saturday Night Live" claiming Sinema explained her position by saying, "Pay attention to me!"

John from Phoenix gave a hearty "Good riddance," to Sinema, asking her, "Please stay out of politics because you suck."

"I wasted five minutes of my life, thanks. You could have said you were retiring in far fewer words. I foresee you making TikToks from your parked car in the future," predicted Antonio.
