Donald Trump's daughter-in-law is the only one in the Trump family having a good week. While her husband Eric and father-in-law are involved in the Manhattan fraud case that could dissolve the family's real estate empire, Lara Trump made it to the Billboard digital charts.
Forbes reported Wednesday that her cover of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" made the list, which shows the songs with most downloads. After a massive push on Fox networks and her own personal social media, Lara Trump hit number 96 for the past 24 hours – though that's below Chicago, blink-182, four Nickelback songs and even Rod Stewart.
But weekly sales are another matter. As of Wednesday, Forbes reported Lara Trump is just under 3,500 digital sales of the cover, putting her in the top 10 sales.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
"The tune debuts at No. 10 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart, which tracks the bestselling tunes in America. Trump’s cover arrives inside the highest tier on the tally, with just under 3,500 copies sold, according to numbers shared by Luminate."
Petty's song is directed to the person who set his house on fire and hit multi-platinum status when he released it. Petty escaped the fire with his family and their housekeeper but it left him shaken and angry, SongFacts wrote. The arsonist was never caught.
"The one that most strangers come up and tell me about is 'I Won't Back Down,'" Petty told Mojo. "So many people tell me it meant something in their lives."
"Trump's single is one of the top debuts of the week on the Digital Song Sales chart, with her tune coming in behind new releases like Jung Kook and Jack Harlow’s '3D' at No. 1, NSYNC’s 'Better Place' at No. 2 and Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen’s 'Mamaw’s House' at No. 7," Forbes explained.
She's also competing with a new U2 single and The Rolling Stones and Lady Gaga, who collaborated on the new song "Sweet Sounds of Heaven."
