Tears of joy are falling by Colorado constituents after learning Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) wouldn't seek reelection for her 3rd District seat in 2024, and instead attempt to replace outgoing Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) in Colorado's 4th Congressional District.

"It is the right decision for me personally, and it is the right decision for those who support our conservative movement. This is the right decision for Colorado, for us," she said in an almost 5-minute-long video.

The Independent interviewed locals in some of the towns that fall in Boebert's current district, and the sentiment is she won't be missed.

“She’s always in drama here in Rifle and Silt,” a 66-year-old grandmother told the outlet at a local Rifle, Colorado-based McDonalds. “She’s not the most popular person anymore."

A 40-year-old independent local in the nearby town of Silt echoed the same icy response.

“There are people I know that are Trump supporters that don’t support her, and they started out, like, ‘Yeah, ra, ra, ra,’ and now, they’re just embarrassed – because she just makes a fool out of herself,” he said in an interview. “When she comes to public places around here, it’s just not professional.”

The 37-year-old new grandmother, whose political rise to notoriety in D.C. was tested when she experienced viral ridicule when being caught on camera canoodling with a date and vaping in a Denver theater during a live-action performance of "Beetlejuice" that ended with the pair being ushered out.

The political fallout appeared to bruise her religiously devout image, Republican State Rep. Matt Soper told The Independent.

“She embraced a very religious, conservative perspective, but then her Beetlejuice night basically made her appear to be very hypocritical … and that’s where a lot of people began really, really questioning not just her judgement, but who she really was,” he said. “And, as a politician, the last thing you want to be questioned on is who you are.”
