The prosecutor President Donald Trump hand-picked to take his political foes to court hit back at a CNN guest on Tuesday over a perceived slight during an interview on the network.
On Monday's edition of CNN's "NewsNight," attorney Stacy Schneider, who appeared with interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan on Trump's TV show "The Apprentice," clashed with GOP strategist Scott Jennings over Halligan's conduct in her prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey. A federal judge has rebuked Halligan for prosecutorial missteps and required her to disclose grand jury tapes to Comey's defense team, a move that legal experts describe as "extraordinary."
“You know what’s so funny? Lindsey Halligan to me looks just like Hope Hicks, his former aide from the Trump administration, with the big flowing, long hair and the same kind of makeup and the same look,” Schneider said on the show. “She looks like one of ‘The Apprentice’ girls. It’s bizarre.”
Halligan clapped back at Schneider on Tuesday in a statement to The New York Post.
“When women like Stacy Schneider criticize me based on appearance, it reinforces my belief in supporting and empowering women instead,” Halligan told The Post in a statement Tuesday. “Attempts by other women to tear us down only strengthens my resolve to lift us up.”
