A man accused of plotting to kill former President Donald Trump had his trial start this week, KEVN reported.

Lucian Celestine is charged with threatening felony terrorism. The first witness called was a former FBI agent who testified about a September 2019 phone call in which Celestine said he wants to kill rapists, and refers to Trump as a rapist. When asked by the agent if he planned to kill Trump, he responds, “I don’t want to, but we’ll just have to wait and see.”

He went on to say during the call that it would be a lot of work to assassinate Trump and he wouldn't want to carry out the act in front of children.

When Celestine tried to purchase a sniper rifle in June of 2020, the seller reported him to the police, saying that he seemed like he was in a rush and didn't want to go through the normal background checks.

If convicted, Celestine faces up to 25 years in prison.
