"The Daily Show" is back after the long writers' strike and that means comedian Jordan Klepper is back to chatting with Donald Trump's supporters at rallies.
Klepper, who poses as a fake reporter, has spent a great deal of time on the trail with Trump supporters; many of his most notable clips are available on YouTube. Most recently, at an event in New Hampshire event, Klepper stumped one Trump supporter sporting the ex-president's mugshot t-shirt that read "Never surrender."
"Never surrender to the tyranny," said the blond young man.
"What is Trump doing here on this shirt?" asked Klepper.
"This is his mugshot," the man replied.
"Gotcha," Klepper said. "So that was taken when he surrendered to authorities to have his picture taken?"
Other exchanges included a conversation with one supporter who said he bought a new Trump hat every month. Klepper quizzed him on how much he had paid for his merchandise; the supporter said that he had about 40 Trump hats and that he bought a hat "at least once a month."
"How do you think America is doing under [President] Biden economically?" Klepper asked.
"Not good. I think, inflation," the supporter replied. "The gas prices going up. Milk and eggs are just through the roof, like buying regular food is, you know. So you've gotta work four jobs to pay your rent."
"How much money have you spent on Trump swag?" Klepper asked.
"A couple thousand dollars," the man said.
"Wow, that's a lot," Klepper replied.
Klepper also spoke with other supporters, one of whom struggled to recall all of Trump's criminal trials. It's unclear whether the Daily Show engaged in selective editing, as most of the videos seem to suggest Trump supporters' selection of Trump is hypocritical.
"Trump has done more than Biden will ever do," one supporter declared.
