Laura Loomer is arguably one of the most controversial figures in the MAGA world, and traditional republicans are "disgusted" by her influence, according to a New York Times column.
Writer Frank Bruni said of Loomer, “She has a sway that doesn’t seem to be going away.”
Loomer has launched successful attacks on Trump nominees like Surgeon General Dr. Janette Nesheiwat. Loomer believed Nesheiwat was too supportive of vaccines. Trump ditched Nesheiwat for someone who is less supportive of vaccines, Dr. Casey Means.
Bruni recalled a story in The Bulwark by Will Sommer, who suggested that “Loomer is emboldened by the influence.” She is now targeting other Trump appointees and even defense lawyer Stanley Woodward.
“Hi @charliekirk11 I’m not sure who lied to you and told you Stanley Woodward is a good guy, but he isn’t… I reported on this 2 weeks ago, and I’m told now some people are making calls to get people to boost Stanley,” she said on X.

The post is not just a dig at Charlie Kirk, who founded the conservative outfit Turning Point USA, for not doing his homework, but also at Woodward, who is currently an assistant to the president and senior counselor.
“She’s unhappy with Robert F. Kennedy Jr,” Bruni wrote. “She’s unhappy with Pam Bondi.”
The columnist later added, “I left out House Republicans. Loomer is unhappy with them for entertaining serious cuts to Medicaid, which she deems politically ruinous.”
Bruni believes, “Loomer exemplifies the danger — to Trump’s own fortunes as well as the country’s — of how he often sizes up potential allies.”
He also noted, when Trump welcomed her to Mar-a-Lago, the president told onlookers, “You don’t want to be Loomered. If you’re Loomered, you’re in deep trouble. That’s the end of your career in a sense.”
